Eric Holder — perfect for Obama, bad for the country

It’s the unprincipled opportunism that makes Holder so unpalatable. Obama […]

Minnesota Recount Update

The gain was attributed to older voting machines that failed to read faint pencil marks. A Republican spokesman said he was relieved that Franken’s gain wasn’t greater.
In general, not many ballots were […]

Now They’ve Gone Too Far!

Al Qaeda’s number two crackpot, Ayman Zawahiri, called Barack Obama a “house Negro” in an audio tape released yesterday. That was beyond the pale, as State Department spokesman Sean McCormack explained:

“It’s just, you know, more despicable comments from a terrorist,” State Department spokesman Sean McCormack told reporters when asked to comment on the remarks.
“And […]

Across the great divide, Part Three

At TPMCafe, I have explained what is probably my main criticism of Angler, Barton Gellman’s book about the Cheney vice presidency. There’s plenty to like about the book, but here I focus on what I see as a flaw:

One of my main complaints has to do with the portrayal of official Washington. That, […]

Cleaning Up After the New Deal

In the Wall Street Journal, Holman Jenkins contemplates the idea that Barack Obama may launch a second New Deal:

His friends advise Barack Obama to launch a “New” New Deal. Maybe that’s because the old New Deal is sinking fast.
Mr. Obama’s one deeply false note during the campaign was his harping on “deregulation” as if that […]
